What the Verified Pro badge means

iHydroseed™ verification is a manual review by our team. It is a real check that a contractor exists as a legitimate business, but it is not a guarantee about workmanship, insurance status on any given day, or the outcome of any specific project. Here is exactly what we check and what we do not.

What we verify before granting the badge

  • Business existence. The company is registered with its state and returns a matching business record (Secretary of State lookup, EIN presence, or equivalent).
  • Physical or plausible operating address. The address on the listing is not a mail drop for a fictitious operation.
  • Working phone and email. Both channels reach the business owner or an authorized representative.
  • Insurance certificate on file. The contractor has submitted a current general-liability certificate. We confirm the carrier, policy number, effective dates, and coverage limits at the moment of review.
  • Any state-required contractor license. Where the state requires hydroseeding, landscape, or general-contractor licensure, we confirm the license number, holder name, and current status against the state licensing board.
  • Certifications shown as verified. When a Verified Pro's profile shows a certification badge with a blue check, we have seen the certification document and confirmed it is genuine.
  • Ownership or authorization to represent the business. The person managing the listing is the owner, an officer, or an authorized employee.
Bottom line: Verified Pro means this is a real, licensed, insured, in-business contractor who is authorized to represent themselves and whose credentials matched the moment we last reviewed them.

What we do NOT verify

  • Quality of workmanship. We do not visit job sites. We do not evaluate finished lawns. We do not audit soil prep, seed selection, mulch application, or any technical aspect of the work.
  • Real-time insurance status. We check insurance at the time of verification (or renewal). We cannot detect a policy that lapses the next day.
  • Job-specific pricing, timelines, or outcomes. A quote is between you and the contractor. Verification says nothing about whether the price is fair or the timeline realistic.
  • Ongoing safety or compliance behavior. Verification is a snapshot, not a monitor.
  • Customer disputes, complaints, or reviews on other platforms. We do not aggregate or referee off-site reviews.
  • Financial condition of the business. Verification is not a credit check or bond confirmation unless a specific bond is part of the reviewed licensing.
  • Employee or subcontractor conduct on any specific job.
Verified is not endorsed. A Verified Pro badge means credentials matched. It does not mean iHydroseed™ recommends this contractor over any other, guarantees the work, or has any commercial relationship with them beyond the directory listing.

How often we re-verify

Verified Pro status is reviewed annually from the date of the last successful verification. About 60 days before expiration, we email the contractor requesting current insurance and license documentation. If everything is current, the badge continues. If the contractor does not respond, or the credentials no longer match, the badge is removed and the tier drops to Pro or Free depending on the underlying subscription.

We may also re-verify on demand if we receive a credible report that a credential is no longer valid.

What happens when verification lapses

  • The blue check badge disappears from the contractor's search card and public profile.
  • The “Credentials reviewed by iHydroseed™” callout is removed.
  • Individual certification badges shown on the profile lose their verified-check overlay and revert to plain badges.
  • The contractor remains listed at whatever paid tier they are on (Pro, Elite, etc.) but loses the trust visuals until re-verification.
  • The contractor's listing history is preserved. Nothing is deleted.

How to get Verified Pro status

Getting verified is a simple two-step process:

  1. Activate Verified Pro on the membership page ($79/mo). Your paid profile goes live immediately.
  2. Submit your credentials for review. Once activated, email service@ihydroseed.com with the subject line “Verified Pro Credentials Review” and include the items below. We review within five business days, and your blue Verified badge appears once your credentials pass review.

You get your full Verified Pro profile the moment you activate; the verified badge is applied after the credential review. Please include:

  • Your business legal name and iHydroseed™ listing URL
  • Your current insurance certificate (COI) as a PDF
  • Any relevant state contractor licenses
  • Any professional certifications you want displayed with verified badges (IECA, SWPPP, state-specific credentials, etc.)

We aim to complete each review within five business days.

Important disclaimer. The Verified Pro badge is a good-faith indicator based on documents provided by the contractor and public records available to iHydroseed™ at the time of review. It is not an insurance policy, a bond, a guarantee of workmanship, or a warranty of any kind. Customers should still confirm license and insurance status directly with the contractor and the relevant state licensing board before hiring, especially for large projects. Nothing in this document constitutes legal advice or creates any duty of iHydroseed™ or Hydroseed Supply™ beyond what is stated in our Terms of Use.
